Bouldering is a fun, beginner-friendly sport, easy to dive into. Whether it’s your first time bouldering or you’re a seasoned expert, we’ll get you started in no time! On your first visit, you will be asked to sign up, and we will provide you with safety instructions free of charge. You can also join our introductory course Boulder Basics for a more thorough introduction to the sport.
Bouldering routes are challenging short climbs up to about 4 meters. Large safety mats are placed beneath the routes to protect you in case of a fall, so no special equipment like ropes or harnesses are required. Each route, or “boulder problem,” is marked by colour, and you complete it by following the same colour holds from start to finish. For example, on a green route, you’re only allowed to use the green holds.
At GRIP, you will find a huge amount of boulder problems, ranging from very easy (marked in green for beginners) to very, very hard. The start and end holds are marked, but it’s up to you to figure out how to reach the top! To keep things interesting, we set new boulders every week.
All you need to go bouldering is a pair of climbing shoes, which you can bring yourself or rent at our gym. We also recommend chalk to keep your hands dry and improve your grip and a sporty outfit. If you already know you want your own gear, we have everything you need in our shop.
If you’re new to bouldering, you will receive a free 5-minute introduction where we explain the basics and go over our safety regulations. Our waiver also includes the general safety instructions, so make sure you read and understand them.
Boulder Basics is perfect for anyone who wants to accelerate their climbing progress. We offer beginner courses at different levels, so whether it’s your first time bouldering or you already had a few sessions, there’s a course for you. With this course, you’ll avoid the common beginner mistakes and have a smoother, more enjoyable start to your bouldering journey!
